New York Knicks Receive: G Zach LaVine
Chicago Bulls Receive: F Julius Randle, F Cam Reddish, 2023 First-Round Pick (NYK), 2025 First-Round Pick (NYK)
In this iteration of a deal, Julius Randle doesn’t factor into the Chicago Bulls’ short-term plans. He’s merely a salary matcher.
The Bulls are only interested here if Zach LaVine has no intentions of staying put. This would be a sign-and-trade. If that’s the situation the organization finds itself in, it could do worse than this package.
After all, they’re getting two first-round picks in exchange for a player who’s leaving anyway. That’s quality value. They’re also receiving Cam Reddish. He hasn’t necessarily lived up to his expectations coming into the league, but he’s still just 22. He could be a building block for a suddenly rebuilding Bulls.
Sometimes, everything you do just isn’t enough. Every move the Bulls have made in the past year-and-a-half could be perceived as a move to satiate LaVine. That doesn’t guarantee his loyalty. They call it unrestricted free agency for a reason.
