Houston Rockets Receive: G Evan Fournier, F Cam Reddish
New York Knicks Receive: G/F Eric Gordon
Speaking of teams and their directions, we present the New York Knicks.
They certainly turned heads at this year’s draft. Typically, when a team owns the 11th pick, they’re expected to pick a prospect. As is often the case, the Knicks defied expectations.
Instead, they traded the pick for three protected future first-rounders. They also included Kemba Walker in the deal, hence clearing cap space beyond the space they cleared by not picking a player.
We’re not knocking the move. It was shrewd. With that said, if the New York Knicks are cap conscious right now, this deal continues to further their cause. Gordon’s deal runs one year shorter than Fournier’s, and they clear Reddish’s hold anyway.
