Utah Jazz Receive: G Derrick White, G/F Aaron Nesmith
Boston Celtics Receive: G Mike Conley
There was a time when we would have attached an unprotected first-round pick to the Utah Jazz’s package in this proposal. That time was before some recent NBA transactions.
The Houston Rockets were able to get the 26th pick in the 2022 draft in exchange for Christian Wood. Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons got a protected 2025 pick for Jerami Grant. By all indications, it’s a buyer’s market.
That doesn’t bode well for the Jazz if they’re hosting a fire sale this summer. Conley’s value is likely lower than either of the players listed above. He is both older and more expensive than either. The Jazz may be lucky to land a young, potential 3-and-D wing like Nesmith for his services.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics would certainly be lucky to acquire Conley at this price. He’s a great decision-maker who’ll space the floor for Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown when he isn’t running the offense.

He could be a perfect fit to take this team to the next level in 2022-23. If they can land him at a discounted rate, it could look like a coup in time.
