Many fans would prefer to see the Wizards on the receiving end of draft capital in a trade. Those same fans have written off the Bradley Beal era as finished.

They may have a point. It does feel like this organization has hit a ceiling as currently constructed. On the other hand, if they’re insistent on remaining competitive, adding a point guard is first on their priority list.

Malcolm Brogdon would be a dream acquisition. He’s a dynamic on-ball playmaker who’ll also space the floor when Beal is creating. Meanwhile, he’ll find Beal in opportune situations when he’s off the ball.

As for the Pacers, they’ll accept this trade if they’re operating under the guise of a rebuild. After trading Domantas Sabonis for Tyrese Haliburton at least year’s trade deadline, they probably ought to be.
