Atlanta Hawks – Acquire Donovan Mitchell In Trade

After running it back following a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021, the Atlanta Hawks are looking to shake things up on their roster this offseason. There have been plenty of rumors swirling about what the front office could do, but the biggest one that they could make is acquiring Donovan Mitchell from the Utah Jazz.

Atlanta is one of the teams that Mitchell would reportedly be open to being traded to and Atlanta will pull the trigger on a huge blockbuster. Defense will be in short supply, but good luck slowing down a backcourt duo of Mitchell and Trae Young, both capable of dominating with the ball in their hands.

Boston Celtics – Trade For Malcolm Brogdon

There isn’t much that the Boston Celtics need after advancing to the NBA Finals. They are on a good path and should contend for years to come with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown leading the way. The one thing that they are missing, however, is some help in the backcourt.

Adding a veteran point guard to the mix wouldn’t be the worst idea. Boston will go shopping and come across Malcolm Brogdon as an acquirable piece. The Pacers are looking to rebuild and move on from veterans and the Celtics could use another player capable of running the offense.

He would provide steady 3-point shooting and multi-positional defense, capable of defending both backcourt spots and some wings. His size is a big upgrade from Payton Pritchard.

Brooklyn Nets – Re-Sign Kyrie Irving

There have been some rumors recently that Kyrie Irving could be looking to leave the Brooklyn Nets. They have hit an impasse when it comes to his contract situation, as the Nets do not want to sign Irving to a long-term contract. Honestly, who could blame them based on how the last three seasons have gone?

Eventually, the Nets will cave and will sign Irving to an extension. They will find some common ground on a multi-year deal but it will possess some options to protect the Nets in case Irving finds himself away from the court again. This is the bed that the Nets made and now they have to lie in it as not retaining Irving could easily lead to Kevin Durant asking for a trade.

Charlotte Hornets – Acquire Myles Turner

The Charlotte Hornets’ biggest need this season is finding another head coach after Kenny Atkinson backed out of the job. For the roster, finding an upgrade in the middle is a necessity. A center has been a need for them for a few years now and this offseason they will finally address it. The Hornets will take advantage of the Indiana Pacers’ rebuilding, acquiring Myles Turner.

Turner is a great fit for Charlotte. Needing to improve defensively, Turner is an elite rim protector with his ability to block shots and alter plenty more. On offense, he won’t be a negative either as he can help space the floor with his 3-point shooting.

Chicago Bulls – Trade For Rudy Gobert

The Chicago Bulls made a lot of strides this season, winning 46 games and earning the No. 6 spot in the Eastern Conference. The playoffs didn’t go their way, as they were defeated by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round, but it was a step in the right direction. This offseason they will take another one, acquiring Rudy Gobert from the Utah Jazz.

Chicago will move on from Nikola Vucevic, who struggled to find his niche as the third option behind Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan. The Bulls will land Gobert, who will anchor their defense with Lonzo Ball around their offensive-minded wings. As an added bonus, the Bulls will figure out a way to get the deal done without including Patrick Williams.

Cleveland Cavaliers – Collin Sexton Isn’t Re-Signed

This year’s free agency class has a solid group of restricted free agents that are looking to cash in. One of those players is Collin Sexton, who was the 8th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft out of Alabama. There has been a lot of discussion about whether or not he would come back, and ultimately, he will move on from Cleveland.

Sexton will sign an offer sheet with another team that will be too rich for the Cavaliers’ blood. It isn’t every day that a player who averaged 23.4 points per game as a 22-year-old becomes available, but the Cavaliers were able to stay afloat with him sidelined. So, they decide to go in a different direction in their backcourt.
