Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal
For a long time now, it’s felt like the New York Knicks were just one star away from landing two or three stars.
After all, this team plays in New York. They’re an iconic, worldwide brand. Surely, there would be an appeal for lots of the NBA’s best players in suiting up for them if they were respectable, right?
Siakam takes them one large step closer to respectability. In fact, he’d probably be the best player this team has had since Carmelo Anthony, if not Patrick Ewing. The Knicks’ official recruitment pitch following this trade would be “we have Pascal Siakam”.
As a two-way wing who gets his teammates involved, he feels like a player that lots of guys would love to play with. He should be worth the price of the draft capital here. If the Knicks land Siakam, they’ll be looking to build through trades and free agency anyway.
