Having just been eliminated from the Western Conference Finals, the eulogies have already been written for the Dallas Mavericks. They can be summarized as follows:
Luka Doncic is amazing, but he needs some help.
Of course, Kevin Durant is overqualified. Realistically, most Dallas Mavericks fans would probably settle for a player half as good.
Still, the notion of a Doncic/Durant pairing is tantalizing. The Mavericks would be pairing the best playmaker in the world with one of the best scorers of all time. Defenses would simply be unable to put the same pressure on Doncic knowing that Durant was waiting on the wing.

The Dallas Mavericks may struggle to make a deal work. They’ve got the contracts to match salaries. What they don’t have is quality young players or draft capital. Still, a three-team deal could make it happen. If Kevin Durant wants to play with Doncic badly enough, he probably could too.
