One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. It feels wrong to apply that cliche to NBA players. They are, after all, men.
It still loosely applies. Sometimes, a player doesn’t work out on a particular team. That doesn’t mean they won’t have value elsewhere. One team’s benchwarmer is another team’s rotation player, in a manner of speaking.
Duncan Robinson looked the part of a benchwarmer in 2021-22 for the Miami Heat. That held particularly true in the postseason, where he was almost exclusively relegated to bench duties.
Mostly, that was due to his defensive shortcomings. They exist, but Robinson is still a high-end floor spacer in a league that values such players tremendously. He should be able to find some usage in a different situation.
