Making the Case: Los Angeles Lakers
The likely outcome for the Los Angeles Lakers will be to run it back with LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook for the 2022-23 season.
Just because that’s likely doesn’t mean we can’t come up with intriguing hypothetical trade scenarios based upon the options if they were to shift their thinking.
LeBron James is a real weapon at the center position. It’s very challenging to contain him, in general, but it created nightmares for any defense when he’s setting a screen and receiving the ball with momentum going to the rim. By moving Davis, they’d have complete spacing in the offense.
The Lakers would fill some of the role player vacancies they created by trading for Russell Westbrook by bringing in Doug McDermott and Josh Richardson. Jakob Poeltl could immediately step in as a center option if they choose to stick with LeBron James at the four.
