Tracy McGrady was one of the most egregious snubs from the NBA’s 75th Anniversary top-75 team. A strong argument can be made for him to have made the team, as he is one of the best scorers that the league has ever seen. Injuries hurt him at times, but he at least has his rightful place in the Hall of Fame.
McGrady knows what it takes to be a star in this league, as he was one himself and played against plenty of others. While recently talking to NBA Sports Washington about his upstart one-on-one basketball league, Ones Basketball League, McGrady found some time to talk about the upcoming 2022 NBA Draft.
This year’s draft class has a few players that people believe will be stars. They are all near the top of the draft, such as Jabari Smith, Chet Holmgren, Paolo Banchero, and Jaden Ivey.
Smith is one player that McGrady mentioned that he envisions becoming a star in this league. He believes another player will reach that level as well, but it isn’t someone projected to go in the top 5. In fact, this player could slip outside of the top-10 even.

That player is Johnny Davis out of Wisconsin. McGrady is very high on him and Jabari Smith Jr. heading into the draft.
“I like the kid Johnny Davis. I think he has the ability to be a star in today’s game. I think Jabari Smith has the ability to be a star in today’s game. Those two really stand out to me of having that potential to be perennial All-Stars in the NBA,” McGrady said.
McGrady isn’t going out on much of a limb when it comes to Smith, as the Aubrun product is widely expected to go first overall to the Orlando Magic. Johnny Davis, on the other hand, is mocked to be selected near the end of the lottery more often than not.

Both players were All-Americans for the 2021-22 season, as Bryant landed on the first team and Smith made the second team. Both have very bright futures ahead of them and if they can reach the level that McGrady believes that they can, there are going to be two very happy teams in the next few years.
