The Oklahoma City Thunder kicked off the 2022-23 NBA trade season by sending their 30th-overall pick along with two future second-round selections to the Denver Nuggets in return for JaMychal Green and a protected 2027 first-rounder. It’s highly unlikely that General Manager Sam Presti is done making moves this offseason though.
According to Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer, the Oklahoma City Thunder are interested in trading for the Portland Trail Blazers’ seventh pick using a package that includes their 12th-overall selection and young wing Luguentz Dort.
The Thunder are allegedly seeking to move up from their 12th slot to guarantee themselves the opportunity to draft former Baylor Bear Jeremy Sochan. The other important piece of that rumor, though, is the Lu Dort is available for the right price.
Although a defensive stalwart, at just 6’3, the Portland Trail Blazers probably don’t have much interest in the German wing. Portland will be looking to start rising star Anfernee Simons with Damian Lillard in the backcourt next year. After the Norman Powell experiment failed in Rip City, they’ll likely stray away from adding Dort as their starting three.

That being said, if there’s to be a swap between the 12th and seventh picks, Dort probably won’t be landing in the Pacific Northwest. Teams who could be better suited for his two-way abilities should either try to wriggle their way into a three-team deal with the Thunder and Blazers or try to trade for Dort outright.
Here are three squads who should try to land the Dorture Chamber.
