New York Knicks, NBA Trade Rumors

The New York Knicks struggled for a majority of the 2021-22 NBA season. They were unable to replicate the success from the previous season when they finished 10 games above the .500 mark and finished in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

This season, they went 37-45, missing the playoffs and NBA Play-In Tournament altogether. This offseason they will seek out changes to ensure that doesn’t happen again. While New York doesn’t have cap space to make a splash in free agency, they have plenty of assets to build competitive trade packages around.

The Knicks have multiple tradable contracts, as Leon Rose did a good job negotiating deals in free agency last year. Derrick Rose, Alec Burks, Nerlens Noel, and Kemba Walker are all on expiring contracts or have team options for the 2023-24 season, essentially making them expiring deals for negotiating purposes.

An intriguing young group of players has also been put together. Obi Toppin, Immanuel Quickley, Quentin Grimes, Cam Reddish, Deuce McBride, and Jericho Sims would fall into that category.

Julius Randle and Evan Fournier could also hold some value, but Randle’s is certainly lower after he regressed to the mean following his All-Star, All-NBA, and Most Improved Player of the Year award-winning 2020-21 campaign.

The potential is there for a blockbuster deal should the New York Knicks find the right partner. Who could they target this offseason?
