The Atlanta Hawks are on a mission to reshape their roster this NBA offseason. They are doing a complete 180 from last season when they decided to run things back with the same roster after advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals.
This offseason, changes will be made and potentially big ones. Atlanta has been linked to both Utah Jazz All-Stars, Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert. They could also be a prime trade partner for the Portland Trail Blazers, who are looking to rebuild their roster around Damian Lillard.
The Trail Blazers have shown some interest in acquiring John Collins as they are going to be buyers this offseason. The biggest trade chip that they possess is the No. 7 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
Should a deal be consummated between Portland and Atlanta, and the Hawks land that selection, they reportedly already have their eyes on a prospect; Dyson Daniels of the G League Ignite.

Daniels is a logical target for the Hawks should they be able to land a selection in the top-10 of the draft. He is a skilled player that can take some pressure off of Trae Young as an extra ball-handler in the lineup.
Standing 6’7”, he would also bring some more size to the lineup, which could help Atlanta turn things around defensively. Young will always be a negative on that end of the court, but the more players capable of making up for it around him, the better off that Atlanta will be.
Daniels is one of the fastest-rising players in the 2022 draft class. He was originally being mocked in the mid-teens, going in the late lottery or just outside of it. Now, it is believed that you will need a top-10 pick to land him, as No. 6 to the Indiana Pacers seems to be his ceiling.

If the Hawks can land the No. 7 overall pick, they are in a prime position to snag Daniels, who fits the mold of what they are looking for this offseason. If he happens to be off the board already, Atlanta can use that pick to acquire more assets via trade. Or, they could consider another 3-and-D player with immense potential in A.J. Griffin out of Duke.
