In many ways, the fates of the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder have been intertwined for the last few NBA seasons.
The list of superstars both of these teams have rostered is remarkable. James Harden, Russell Westbrook, and Chris Paul all suited up for both of these squads in recent history. In fact, they were all traded from one to the other at some point.
The Rockets built an entire era of basketball off of the Harden trade. History does not reflect well on that deal from the Thunder’s perspective. With that said, they got their revenge in the Russell Westbrook/Chris Paul swap. Due to that deal, the Rockets owe their first-round picks (with protections) to the Thunder in 2024 and 2025.
Could these sides meet for another blockbuster this summer? The Thunder may not be likely to trade Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but there is a non-zero chance.
