The biggest trade ahead of the deadline during the 2021-22 NBA season was between the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets. As part of that deal, the 76ers acquired James Harden and had high hopes of pairing him with Joel Embiid. Unfortunately for the 76ers, things didn’t go as planned.
The 76ers were bounced in the second round of the playoffs by the Miami Heat, which will lead to a lot of questions this offseason surrounding the team. Atop that list is what to do with Harden, who looked like a shell of himself.
Philadelphia has to take advantage of the production they are getting from Embiid, who is in the prime of his career. That could very well mean making another blockbuster trade this offseason, as Daryl Morey would try and bring in a third All-Star.
That will not be easy to accomplish, as Philadelphia would have to move off of some of their other contracts. Tobias Harris would be among the players they would have to find a new home for and the 76ers are already doing their due diligence.

According to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Tobias Harris is one of many players the team is gauging the trade interest of. In addition to Harris, Matisse Thybulle, Furkan Korkmaz, Shake Milton, Danny Green, and their first-round draft pick, No. 23, are all being discussed.
“The Sixers are trying to gauge the market and see what they can get for the players and draft pick, one source said. This approach is part of their effort to compile information and see what deals could work when it’s time to make a trade.”
It makes sense for the organization to compile as much information as possible. Even if they are unable to swing another blockbuster deal, the Philadelphia 76ers are going to look to shake things up on the roster this offseason.

Upgrading the frontcourt behind Joel Embiid should be near the top of their to-do list as they never found someone to replace Andre Drummond, who was sent to the Nets in the Harden deal, as Embiid’s backup. Another backcourt player wouldn’t hurt either as the team lacked point guard options beyond Tyrese Maxey all season.
