Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: F Kyle Anderson (Sign & Trade), G/F Dillon Brooks
Memphis Grizzlies Receive: G D’Angelo Russell
If the last deal felt like low value for D’Angelo Russell, this one feels like a bit of an overpay for the Memphis Grizzlies.
It may be that Russell is a difficult player to evaluate. He is capable of giving his team a star’s level of production. In spite of that ability, he’s got those pesky weaknesses we outlined. Russell is a fringe All-Star who projects as likely to stay on the fringe.
Still, if the Grizzlies did think he could juice their offense enough, they may budge on this deal. The Timberwolves would surely be happy. Kyle Anderson is the perfect 4 to plug in alongside Towns. He’s a stout, fundamentally solid defender who provides some floor-spacing to boot.
Meanwhile, Dillon Brooks is the type of plug-and-play wing who complements any team. Without a doubt, the Timberwolves would have to be satisfied with this return for Russell.
