Houston Rockets

Clearing playing time for Alperen was the priority for the Houston Rockets by executing this trade. That makes sense, he showed intriguing flashes in his rookie campaign and fits Jalen Green’s timeline.

The main concern for this trade from the Rockets’ side of things is the lack of value they received in return for Wood. His production was rough.

Wood is too good of a player to simply salary dump just for the 26th overall pick in the NBA Draft. There’s a feeling of “that’s it?” when evaluating the return for this trade.

Perhaps the Rockets could have landed a greater return for Wood had they waited for teams to strike out on their preferred offseason targets. If they were intent on salary dumping him regardless, waiting to do it could have remained an option.
