Atlanta Hawks Receive: G Spencer Dinwiddie, G Tim Hardaway Jr., 2024 First-Round Pick (DAL), 2025 First-Round Pick (Swap – DAL)
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: F John Collins, F Bojan Bogdanovic
Dallas Mavericks Receive: C/F Anthony Davis
Rumors have recently suggested that the Hawks will look to trade John Collins in an effort to move into the 2022 draft lottery. Could we interest them in two future first-round picks instead?
Granted, one of them is a swap. Still, a pick and a swap, by our math, is more draft capital than one pick. If the Hawks are keen to stack up picks for a big trade down the line, this deal should be appealing to them.
Whether the Lakers are interested is a different story. This trade has them moving the best player in the trade in exchange for two good, but lesser players. Many would argue that’s a perfect recipe for losing a trade.
Maybe so, but the Lakers get deeper with this deal. That counts for a team that, in 2021-22, could count itself among the least deep teams in the league.

Plus, Collins is a perfect player to complement Russell Westbrook as a 5 in small-ball lines. Meanwhile, Bogdanovic is the type of tertiary scorer this team was sorely lacking last season.
We think it’s a good deal for the purple-and-gold, but if they think otherwise, the next package may be more appealing to them.
