Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal
Realistically, it depends on how desperate they are to land a point guard.
Terry Rozier is an immensely gifted offensive player. He can create shots for himself and his teammates, and he spaces the floor capably when someone else is running the show.
That last point is of particular significance for these New York Knicks. Assuming Julius Randle is still in town next season, he’s likely to continue running the show as a point forward. Rozier’s score-first mentality won’t be a problem with Randle stirring the drink, and his floor spacing will be a particular asset.
If the Knicks hope to be more competitive next season, this deal ought to help with that. The Hornets may be getting excellent value in this exchange, but Rozier is still the best player involved in it.
