Atlanta Hawks Receive: G/F Ben Simmons
Oklahoma City Thunder Receive: F Danilo Gallinari, F De’Andre Hunter, 2023 First-Round Pick (ATL), 2025 First-Round Pick (ATL), 2027 First-Round Pick (ATL), 2027 First-Round Pick (PHI)
Brooklyn Nets Receive: G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
The Atlanta Hawks were heavily linked to Ben Simmons last year. It makes sense. Simmons’ elite defense would do wonders to cover for Trae Young’s shortcomings in that area.
The question is, how badly do they want him?
This deal has them giving up three first-round picks and De’Andre Hunter to land Simmons. It’s a hefty price, but if they think they can contend with a Young/Simmons duo, it’ll be worth their while.
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder nab a player they’ll be glad to have down the road in Hunter. He’s the type of 3-and-D wing that every NBA team covets in 2022. He’s also more of a supporting player than a lead. Hunter isn’t offensively talented enough to compromise their tank, but he’ll complement the next player they acquire who is.

If the Atlanta Hawks still covet Ben Simmons, this deal could work for all parties. Otherwise, the Nets and Thunder may need to seek a different third team to make a deal happen.
