The Toronto Raptors find themselves in NBA purgatory. They’re good enough to justify win-now moves, but they’re far away enough from contention that they could justify rebuilding too.

Call it a rich man’s problem. The Raptors may have one of the best situations in the NBA right now. To be a playoff team and roster the reigning Rookie of the Year in Scottie Barnes puts them in a unique position.

It’s hard to say what decisions they’ll make. The safer money may be on them forging ahead with their key pieces, hoping to eventually gravitate to contender status.

On the other hand, don’t be surprised if they make a radical decision.

Trading Pascal Siakam would certainly qualify. He’s been a mainstay for this franchise for some time. Still, the Raptors would stand to get a sizeable return for his services. If they determined that he’s too similar to Barnes, and felt compelled to diversify, Siakam could be on the trade block.
