Making the Case: Brooklyn Nets
It remains to be seen how Ben Simmons will fit with the Brooklyn Nets when considering he hasn’t played a single game since being traded to them at the midseason deadline.
There are some potential concerns with how he may fit when considering he’s a non-shooting threat and would need to embrace more of a complementary role emblematic of the one he took exception to when Jimmy Butler was taking away from his shine on the Philadelphia 76ers.
On a team with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, putting the basketball in Simmons’ hands much to initiate outside of grab-and-go fast-break opportunities seems unappealing.
Would Simmons be satisfied with being a ball screener and attack out of short-rolls? Would he be okay with filling a Draymond Green type of role orchestrating dribble handoffs? Again, we don’t know since that would require a feel on his personal perspective.

If the Nets want a simple fit, adding a rim protector and lob threat like Clint Capela would check a lot of boxes. He has thrived as a complement to superstar talents in his NBA career and would be able to set screens for Durant and Irving in Brooklyn.
