Making the Case: Houston Rockets
This trade is the perfect asset dump for the Houston Rockets. They finally find a trade partner for veteran deadeye Eric Gordon as well as someone to take troubled, but talented, big man Christian Wood off of their hands.
In return, they land a young rim-runner and defensive anchor in Mitchell Robinson, a promising 3-and-D prospect in Cam Reddish, and Kemba Walker.
Mitchell Robinson has repeatedly failed to live up to the potential that he shows in flashes. He regularly tops the league in both blocks and field goal percentage, showing the ability to be an efficient two-way force. However, Robinson can get in his own way sometimes, overhunting for swats instead of playing positional defense. He also struggles with staying out of foul trouble.
The Rockets would be hoping that freeing him from Tom Thibodeau’s rugged and archaic methods and bringing him into a new situation will unlock all of that potential.

Cam Reddish is another young player full of promise who has failed to live up to the hype. Reddish has established himself as an above-average deep shooter and a decent defensive wing with size, however, his lack of basketball IQ has tanked any positive value he’s generated thus far.
Despite being a horribly inefficient scorer from anywhere inside the 3-point arc, Reddish insists on giving himself an All-Star’s shot diet, and as a result, the shooting percentages of 2021-22 Russell Westbrook. Still, his potential to be the perfect complementary piece on both ends of the court gives the Rockets a great wing to build with alongside Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun.
