The Indiana Pacers are effectively swapping Malcolm Brogdon for the 11th pick in this transaction. For a rebuilding team, that’s great value.

With this selection, it’s hard to say where the Pacers will go. Jeremy Sochan, the defensive-minded forward out of Baylor, could be an interesting choice. So could Adrian Griffin Jr., the 3-and-D wing-out Duke.

Whoever the Pacers select here, their fans will be excited to see him lace up in 2022-23.

This is a lot to give up for the New York Knicks here. They’re only going to be interested in this deal if they’re all-in on winning in 2022-23. In that event, Brogdon will aid their cause.

On the other hand, if the Knicks see that pick as too premium an asset, that’s a defensible position. Furthermore, the Pacers may prefer to land some young players with NBA experience. In either case, the next trade is more fitting.
