No Utah Jazz fan could have been satisfied with the team’s first-round exit this season. The Jazz had much higher hopes. Having fallen so dramatically short, big changes may be coming.

It would appear that the relationship between franchise stars Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert is strained. It may be damaged beyond repair. In that event, expect Rudy Gobert to be on the move this summer.

That will happen whether Mitchell is traded or not. If he is, the Jazz should be eager to move off of a 29-year-old on a big contract. They’ll be in rebuild mode. If he isn’t, it’s likely that the value they’re receiving in a Gobert trade is a selling point in their pitch for the star guard to stay put.
