There aren’t many teams that have been linked to the Los Angeles Lakers with interest in Russell Westbrook. However, one of the teams that have been linked to him is the Charlotte Hornets.
Charlotte is looking to move on from Gordon Hayward and his big contract. While he has injury concerns of his own, which could be a hard sell for the Lakers, there is no denying how good of a fit he would be alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Hayward does a little bit of everything on offense. He provides the team with another ball mover and someone that can create offense for himself in the halfcourt. Hayward is also a very good 3-point shooter, making him someone that could play off of James and spot up around the perimeter.
Gordon Hayward also offers some versatility on defense, something you can never have enough of. He brings everything to the table you are looking for from a third option, but it would certainly be a risk because you never know how many games he will play.

At this point, the old saying beggars can’t be choosers applies to Los Angeles. If someone is willing to take Westbrook, they should pull the trigger. Since Gordon Hayward’s contract is longer than Westbrook’s, the Lakers may not have to surrender as much draft capital in this deal as others.
