The New York Knicks are going to look to shake things up this NBA offseason when it comes to their roster. After taking a big step back during the 2021-22 season, the front office needs to decide which path they want to take the roster.
Building around the younger players on the roster should be the direction they go in.
New York has an impressive young core with seven players on the roster that are 24-years old or younger. They need to lean into that youth, see if any All-Stars can emerge from it and go from there.
The results they had during the 2020-21 season seem to have been a little bit of a fluke. A big reason for that is the production that Julius Randle had, which turned out to be unsustainable. Randle’s production regressed to the mean and was one of the reasons that the team won fewer games.

In addition to the sometimes uneven production, Randle also had some run-ins with the fans during games. It has led to things seemingly souring between Randle and the organization after the sides agreed to an extension last offseason.
Potentially looking to get out of that extension and head in a different direction, Randle is someone that could be on the trade block this offseason. Could talks with the Sacramento Kings centered around Randle be rekindled?
