The Portland Trail Blazers are one team that is expected to be very busy this offseason. After shipping away multiple key pieces at the NBA trade deadline, they are in a position to completely reshape the supporting cast around Damian Lillard.
While they looked to be headed into a full-scale rebuild, it could be the opposite. Now armed with a lottery pick and open cap space, Portland is in a position to be a big player in free agency. That being said, they will have their work cut out for them as they attempt to get back in the mix to compete in the Western Conference.
Possible trade targets for the Trail Blazers are already beginning to surface. In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Jake Fischer cited Toronto Raptors forward OG Anunoby and Jerami Grant of the Detroit Pistons as two players they may look to acquire.
“The Trail Blazers remain widely expected to pursue trade scenarios with the No. 7 pick in order to add a complementary veteran alongside All-NBA guard Damian Lillard, and Anunoby is believed to be one of their primary targets along with Jerami Grant.”

Both players are perfect fits for the Trail Blazers. One thing their roster has always missed is a wing that can defend the opposing team’s best player. On top of being above-average, Grant has proven to be a reliable scorer since arriving in Detroit. In 47 games this season, he averaged 19.2 points on 42.6% shooting from the field.
At 24-years-old, targeting OG Anunoby makes more sense for Portland long term. His upside is far higher than Jerami Grant’s and he’s getting ready to enter his prime. Anunoby posted a career-high 17.1 PPG for the Raptors this season while shooting league average from three on close to seven attempts per game.
