The Miami Heat and the Brooklyn Nets have one thing in common: both of their 2021-22 NBA seasons were ended by the Boston Celtics. The manner in which each ended could hardly be more different.
The Heat were eliminated from the Eastern Conference Finals on Sunday. Surely, they’d hoped for better. It was still an excellent season they’ll look to build on for 2022-23.
Conversely, the Nets were an utter disappointment this year. They lost to Boston in the first round. In all fairness, they were both eliminated by the same teams.
On the other hand, the Nets entered the year as prohibitive NBA championship favorites. A first-round defeat was a failure by any standard. Now, this team will have to take a long look in the mirror this summer.
