Houston Rockets Receive: F Talen-Horton Tucker, G Kendrick Nunn, 2027 First-Round Pick (LAL)
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: C Christian Wood
On the subject of twin towers, how much more effective would the Los Angeles Lakers’ version look if both of the towers could also shoot?
Of course, Anthony Davis barely meets that criteria. He shot a woeful 18.6% from distance in 2021-22. The Lakers will be hoping he can bump that figure closer to his usual career marks no matter who they acquire this summer.
On the other hand, Christian Wood certainly does. He shot 39% from range in 2021-22. By acquiring him, the Lakers can continue exploiting a size advantage in the frontcourt while improving their floor-spacing. That will be pivotal to maximizing Russell Westbrook as a non-shooting lead ball-handler.
Meanwhile, Wood’s well-documented defensive shortcomings should be masked by Davis’ strength in that area. They’re a perfect modern twin tower formation, and the Lakers should assemble them if the Rockets are interested.
