Philadelphia 76ers
Read the headline again. Nothing disqualifies us from including James Harden’s incumbent Philadelphia 76ers in this exercise. It just might be the best landing spot of all for him.
After all, the 76ers boast the league’s runner-up for the MVP award in Joel Embiid. Harden could scarcely ask for a more talented co-star. Furthermore, Tyrese Maxey is emerging as an overqualified third banana.
It may be that this team just needs some tinkering to make a more serious run. Another two-way player or two could go a long way towards fixing some of the rotational issues that plagued them in this year’s postseason.
Unpredictability may have become part of Harden’s brand, but it doesn’t have to stay that way. A little more stability may allow him to actually gel with a group.
