Brooklyn Nets Receive: C Myles Turner, G Buddy Hield
Indiana Pacers Receive: G/F Ben Simmons
There’s an irony in this Indiana Pacers deal. Myles Turner, realistically, is exactly the player the Brooklyn Nets would like to acquire to complement Ben Simmons.
After all, few quality rim protectors in the NBA also happen to own a career 34.9% three-point percentage. Turner is the rare 3-and-D big man as he’s shown to be with the Pacers. He’d be perfect alongside the non-shooting Simmons.
In the same breath, Turner is perfect anywhere. His plug-and-playability is one of his biggest selling points. By acquiring him and the sweet-shooting Hield, the Nets would have assembled their most complete team of the Durant/Irving era.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers signify that when Team President Kevin Pritchard said this team wouldn’t rebuild, he wasn’t joking. The acquisition of Simmons would have to be viewed as a win-now move. If he can get healthy and regain his prior form, who knows?
