Rudy Gobert
Rudy Gobert doesn’t give the Dallas Mavericks the same offensive potency that the LaVine does. This acquisition would be mostly about defense.
Mostly, perhaps, but not entirely. Rudy Gobert led the entire NBA with an astonishing 71.3% field goal percentage in 2021-22. He might not be a second ball-handling option, but he’d figure to do tremendous damage in pick-and-roll sets alongside Doncic.
Still, his rim protection is what the Mavericks would mostly covet. The 3x Defensive Player of the Year provides more than any other player in the National Basketball Association.
The Mavericks have been linked to Rudy Gobert since before they got eliminated by the Warriors. That’s no surprise. Gobert is widely expected to be available this summer, and the Mavericks need a rim protector.
