The Miami Heat were eliminated by the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. Now, the focus will quickly shift to the NBA offseason where they will have some decisions to make.

PJ Tucker is a mainstay of the NBA playoffs because he brings the talent that high-level NBA teams need. He’s a versatile, physical, lock-down defender, who can guard superstars of all shapes and sizes.

As a desirable target for contenders every season, Tucker has changed teams each of the last two years. His defense, combined with efficient three-point shooting, makes him a good fit with nearly any contender. Tucker has a player option this season. Should he decline it, Bleacher Report named the Chicago Bulls as a possible destination.

Though listed as an ambitious option, Bleacher Report pointed out that Tucker would be a perfect fit in Chicago in free agency.

“Chief among the Chicago Bulls’ extensive list of needs is wing depth, accessory shooting and better back-up center minutes. Tucker effectively addresses all three.

“He remains a borderline every-position defender, drilled 41.5 percent of his threes this season and can sponge up reps as a small-ball 5. The Miami Heat even have him making actual decisions with the ball on offense.”

The Chicago Bulls view themselves as contenders in the East, and adding Tucker would help them solidify that status. Tucker brings championship experience to a team that lacks it. He also fills out the wing depth on both sides of the ball.

The Bulls showed this season that they’re close to contention, and need just a few more pieces to get there and Tucker would certainly be one for Chicago.
