Myles Turner

Ironically, the biggest hole in the Charlotte Hornets’ starting lineup is at their center spot. Mason Plumlee, while solid, doesn’t offer any elite skills or top-tier production on either end of the court. Plumlee’s much better suited for a role off of the bench, and the Hornets desperately need to upgrade that position if they want to improve on their record from this past season.

It just so happens that a Defensive Player of the Year candidate might just be available. Not only would Myles Turner be a transformative addition for the Hornets on both ends of the court, he’s also just 26 years old, making him young enough to grow alongside Charlotte’s core.

Myles Turner’s 3-point marksmanship will help keep the lane open for LaMelo, Bridges, and the Hornets’ other slashers to attack the rim. He’ll make for a fantastic pick-and-pop partner for Ball and might have some untapped back-to-the-basket potential that went unnoticed when he played in Domantas Sabonis’s shadow.

On defense, he’ll provide the Hornets with a true, top-tier defensive anchor capable of skyrocketing their efficiency overnight. He’s big, agile, and disciplined enough to slow down Joel Embiid, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Bam Adebayo and has the timing and reach to deter nearly every shot at the rim.

The Indiana Pacers should be looking to completely reset their roster around Tyrese Haliburton, and Myles Turner should be available for the right price. It would be prudent of the Hornets to build a package around their 13th-overall pick to try to bring the former Texas Longhorn to Charlotte.
