Detroit Pistons Receive: F Tobias Harris, 2022 First-Round Pick (No. 4 – SAC)
Sacramento Kings Receive: F Jerami Grant, G Shake Milton
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: F Harrison Barnes
Obviously, the Sacramento Kings are paying a hefty sum to upgrade their roster with this deal. In a vacuum, the fourth overall pick is probably worth more than Jerami Grant.
Luckily, NBA transactions don’t happen in a vacuum. The Kings have a clear impetus to win now. Jaden Ivey, though brimming with potential, isn’t likely to aid that cause in his rookie campaign. On the other hand, Jerami Grant’s defensive versatility and floor spacing would be a perfect fit alongside Sabonis in the frontcourt.
For the Pistons, this is an absolute no-brainer. Sure, they’re taking on Harris’ albatross contract. That’s a prudent decision when it comes with the fourth overall pick. Already the owners of the fifth pick, the Pistons would have back-to-back selections.
That gives them options. They’d likely be selecting Ivey to pair with Cade Cunningham in the backcourt. Unless, of course, one of the presumptive top three of Chet Holmgren, Paolo Banchero, or Jabari Smith Jr. slips.

With the fifth pick, the Pistons could get bold by selecting the mysterious Shaedon Sharpe, or play it safe with the high-floor Keegan Murray.
Either way, this deal is a tremendous boon to their rebuild. It should serve the other two teams in their bid to win games in 2022-23 equally well.
