The last time D’Angelo Russell played for the Brooklyn Nets, the team was in a much different position. He led a rebuilding team to the NBA postseason before being shipped away. Now, could Russell rejoin the Nets as they look to compete for a title via a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves?

The Timberwolves were able to get into the postseason and gave the Memphis Grizzlies all they could handle in the first round. Russell is entering the final year of his contract in Minnesota, which makes him an option to trade. With Anthony Edwards emerging as a star, it gives Minnesota some options.

Heading into the season, the Timberwolves were at the forefront of many trade rumors because of the big names they have on the roster. Karl-Anthony Towns continues to be one of the best centers in the game and is close with Russell. It will be interesting to see if that factors into who the team moves this offseason.

As for the Nets, they need to re-shape their roster in order to win right away. With Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant on the roster, Brooklyn features one of the best duos in the league but has struggled to put the right pieces around them.
