Dallas Mavericks Receive: F/C Wendell Carter Jr., F/G Terrence Ross
Orlando Magic Receive: G/F Tim Hardaway Jr., G/F Josh Green, G/F Sterling Brown, No. 26 Pick in 2022 NBA Draft, 2026 First-Round Draft Pick

This trade would help the Dallas Mavericks plug even more of their holes. Wendell Carter Jr. is the centerpiece of the deal and becomes the new starting center, but Dallas is also acquiring another dependable wing in Terrence Ross.

Ross didn’t play well during the 2021-22 season, but that could be chalked up to fatigue playing for a rebuilding team. He is the last veteran standing as Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon, and Evan Fournier were all traded.

It is time that he gets his opportunity on a contender and the Mavericks would be hoping he can turn things around, revitalize playing for a team with championship aspirations not acquire the most ping pong balls.

A third team would likely have to get involved as the Orlando Magic probably don’t want Tim Hardaway Jr., but he would need to be included to make the numbers work.

But, to compensate for taking on the remaining three seasons of his contract, the Magic added another future first-round pick in the deal, along with No. 26 in this year’s draft.

But, if the Orlando Magic don’t mind taking on the veteran, he can probably fill a similar role to the one that Ross is vacating. He can be instant offense off the bench, providing some leadership for the young players to learn from.
