Utah Jazz Receive: F John Collins, C Onyeka Okongwu, F Jalen Johnson, 2023 First-Round Pick (ATL)
Atlanta Hawks Receive: C Rudy Gobert
If the Utah Jazz are forced into rebuilding this summer, this trade offers them a great start.
Collins is already a proven commodity in this league. If nothing else, he’s a hyper-athletic 4 who can roll or pop out of pick-and-roll sets. Still, one wonders whether he might be able to expand his role on a rebuilding Jazz squad.
On the other hand, Okongwu almost certainly can. He’s spent his brief NBA career so far as Clint Capela’s backup in Atlanta. Down the stretch of 2021-22, he made the case that Capela ought to be the one on the second unit.
Finally, Johnson hardly saw the floor in his rookie season, but he’s still a high potential player. The athletic 6’8 point forward once garnered real lottery consideration before a lost season at Duke impacted his draft stock.

This deal is fair for both sides, but it’s not perfect. The Atlanta Hawks might prefer to move Clint Capela if they’re acquiring Gobert. Meanwhile, the Jazz may prefer to receive a little more draft capital. Both of those concerns could be alleviated by adding a third team into the mix.
