The Indiana Pacers are a team that could be very active on the trade front this NBA offseason. They were one of the most active teams in the league at the deadline but have numerous more veterans that could be on the move.

One of the players that they are expected to put on the block is point guard, Malcolm Brogdon. Brogdon wasn’t eligible to be traded during the season because of the contract extension that he signed, but he can be moved during the offseason.

Brogdon’s status with the team came into question after the Domantas Sabonis trade that the Pacers made. Indiana sent Sabonis, Jeremy Lamb, and Justin Holiday to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield, and Tristan Thompson.

Haliburton is who the Pacer should now be building their backcourt and roster around. While the two have different skills that could play well alongside each other, it seems as if Indiana will at least check out the market for Brogdon.

Surprisingly, one of the teams that are showing interest in him is the Sacramento Kings, per NBA Analysis’s own, Evan Massey. After making that blockbuster deal at the deadline, the team front offices have built a relationship and could get to work on another deal.

It is tough to figure out what the Kings’ plan is by showing interest in Brogdon. They already have three good guards in their rotation in De’Aaron Fox, Davion Mitchell and Donte DiVincenzo. They could very well add another one depending on how the 2022 NBA Draft shakes out, as the Sacramento Kings landed the No. 4 overall pick in the lottery.

Could those lottery picks be in the mix? Indiana has the sixth pick but could look to move up. Sacramento is known to be on the search for established veterans that can help push them over the top and snap their 16-year playoff drought. Brogdon, in theory, would help them achieve that as long as he can stay on the court.

Durability has been an issue for the Virginia product since joining the Indiana Pacers, as he played in 36 games this past season and 110 in his first two seasons in Indianapolis combined. The best ability that an athlete can have is availability and Malcolm Brogdon has provided that in the last few seasons.

His trade market will be one to watch as his skill set can help teams win games. How many games he will be on the court to actually help a team win is anyone’s guess.
