They are receiving a metric ton of valuable assets in this package. John Collins has already flirted with All-Star consideration. Each of the other three players the Wolves are getting has the potential to do the same, and they’re receiving three first-round picks in the process.
The Wolves could see the logic in cutting bait with Towns now. It’s a stretch, but this front office could decide that they’ve hit a ceiling with their current core. This trade allows them to forge ahead with Anthony Edwards as their centerpiece, and plenty of material to build around him.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks form one of the most potent offensive duos in the league here. Yes, it comes at the expense of defense. Between Young and Towns, they might be too busy outscoring opponents up until at least the Conference Finals to care.
