In some ways, the Toronto Raptors find themselves in the best situation possible entering the NBA offseason. They’re a competitive team with a 20-year-old potential superstar. 

The Raptors shocked the NBA world when they selected Scottie Barnes with the 4th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Most observers expected them to go with Jalen Suggs. Barnes proceeded to spend his rookie season making the case that he could have gone first overall. 

To some, his emergence renders Pascal Siakam expendable. Both are oversized wings with playmaking chops. On the one hand, that’s a smart archetype to double down on.

On the other hand, imagine the value the Raptors could receive for a potentially redundant player.
