Bad Landing Spot: New York Knicks
The New York Knicks are looking to make some upgrades this offseason. Jerami Grant should hope that he isn’t one of the players that are on their radar.
Grant would fix some issues that the Knicks currently have. They could use help on the wing, but that would be miscasting Grant. At this point, Grant’s best position is playing power forward, which is being held down by Julius Randle.
Swapping Grant in for Randle, even with his struggles during the 2021-22 season, would be a downgrade for the Knicks. Grant isn’t the playmaker or rebounder that Randle is, further weakening two areas of the team.
This is also a franchise transitioning into becoming RJ Barrett’s team. Grant would never be the go-to guy in this offense if Barrett continues ascending in the fashion that he has thus far in his career.

The Knicks are also in desperate need of a point guard. Joining another team without a bona fide lead playmaker would hurt Grant’s production. While playing in a huge market is something Grant would probably like to expand his reach, the Knicks aren’t a good fit for him.
