Why The Trade Benefits The New Orleans Pelicans

New Orleans thought that it had its franchise player when Zion Williamson was drafted. After seeing him struggle with injuries, the front office has decided to build in different ways. They are still hoping that Williamson can get back to full health, but there is no guarantee of that.

To this point, it looks as though it has been successful. The New Orleans Pelicans took a major step forward going from one of the worst teams in the conference to a playoff team this season. The addition of McCollum complemented Brandon Ingram well.

The same could be said if Deandre Ayton is put next to Williamson. He is a true seven-footer who can get it done from the mid-range and in the post. Ayton has taken his game up a notch and would be able to fit well next to Williamson, if the young star is able to return from injury.

The Pelicans have shown that they want to compete in a difficult Western Conference. This is why moves have been made and there could be more on the horizon if the team find a trade partner.

Ayton to the Pelicans would be a great fit, to say the least. New Orleans would most certainly take a huge step forward in the West if they can pull off this deal.
