It is difficult to figure out what the plan for the Indiana Pacers is this NBA offseason. There are a lot of possibilities as they have some maneuverability when it comes to the salary cap and tradable assets.
There are plenty of rumors about the team trading the holdovers from the deadline, such as guard Malcolm Brogdon and center Myles Turner. Sharpshooting guard Buddy Hield could also be moved for the right price.
Deciding what to do with Brogdon is the first task for Indiana this offseason. After that, they can figure out who to target to fill out and upgrade the rest of the roster. Having a versatile player such as Tyrese Haliburton as the building block makes it a lot easier as the team can cast a wide net when figuring out players that fit
Over at Bleacher Report, they put together a piece highlighting one player that would be an ambitious target for each team. Indiana’s target in that piece is Kyle Anderson of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Stylistically, Anderson doesn’t seem to be a great fit for a team that is built to run and get into the open court. But, that is how the Memphis Grizzlies are built to succeed led by Ja Morant and Anderson has still found a way to impact the game.
He is a jack of all trades, offering a little bit of everything. Anderson can function as a secondary playmaker and ball-handler on offense, running some offense through him. He is an improved 3-point shooter as well and has a little off-the-dribble creation to his game, too.

Defensively is where Anderson makes the most impact. He offers multi-positional versatility as he can defend guards and wings alike. Standing 6’9” with a 7’3” wingspan, Anderson can more than hold his own against frontcourt players as well.
Given the uncertainty of what their roster will look like, bringing in the versatile Anderson would make a lot of sense. He could fill several roles for the team depending on how things shake out.

Kyle Anderson is the kind of player that Rick Carlisle loves and would make for an ideal target for an Indiana Pacers team that doesn’t want to tear things down and rebuild but instead compete as soon as possible.
