Right now, the Golden State Warriors are three victories away from playing in the 2022 NBA Finals. Regardless of how things shake out, the front office is going to have some difficult decisions to make this offseason.
Golden State is staring down what could be an exorbitant tax bill. Ownership has never shied away from paying players if it meant continued success on the court, but at some point, something has to give. You won’t be able to keep everyone forever and this offseason could be the time that players begin departing.
Kevon Looney, Otto Porter Jr., Gary Payton II and Damion Lee are all free agents this summer. Jordan Poole is eligible for an extension and Andrew Wiggins will become a free agent in 2023 and that is looming over the franchise as well.
The roster could look drastically different for the 2022-23 season than it does right now. A blockbuster trade could be on the table should the team fall short of winning the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Why Warriors Should Pursue Pacers’ Myles Turner Trade In Offseason
One suggested blockbuster target over at Bleacher Report for the Golden State Warriors could be Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers. The framework of a hypothetical trade package could be James Wiseman and Moses Moody heading to Indiana in exchange for the unicorn center.
Turner would provide Golden State with a presence in the middle defensively. He has the size to combat bigger frontcourts and is an elite rim protector. He would have led the league in blocks per game had he played in enough games to qualify this season.
Offensively, Myles Turner will fit in perfectly given his ability to space the floor. He has knocked down 34.9 percent of his 3-point attempts in his career and offers more than just floor spacing should he be provided the opportunity to showcase it.

This is a franchise that is in win-now mode as long as Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green are the core of the roster. Wiseman and Moody have upside as the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and No. 14 pick in the 2021 draft, respectively, but the Golden State Warriors need players that can help immediately.
Wiseman has been unable to stay healthy enough to contribute and Moody was unable to crack the rotation unless injuries were depleting the roster. They would be afforded a chance to develop and get consistent playing time with the rebuilding Indiana Pacers, who have shifted their focus to building around 22-year-old point guard, Tyrese Haliburton.

Indiana would have quite a group of youngsters to build the foundation of their franchise around. Golden State, on the other hand, would hope Myles Turner can stabilize things for them in the middle and help them in their pursuit of championships.
