Utah Jazz Receive: C Richaun Holmes, F Harrison Barnes, 2022 First-Round Pick (No. 4 – SAC), 2024 First-Round Pick (SAC)
Sacramento Kings Receive: G Donovan Mitchell
For all the criticisms one could rightfully make of the Utah Jazz, at least they’ve made a habit of making the playoffs over the years. The same can’t be said for the Sacramento Kings: they’re in the midst of an NBA record 16-year playoff drought.
The Kings are desperate for success. They need to make the playoffs next year no matter how they get there. Acquiring Donovan Mitchell sounds like a pretty route for them to take.
After all, he’d be forming one of the league’s most talented backcourts alongside De’Aaron Fox. The Kings trio of those two and the recently acquired Domantas Sabonis should make the backbone of a top 10 offense.
The Kings’ defense will suffer, but realistically, who cares? The goal here is the postseason: nobody said anything about a championship.

As for the Jazz, they get an opportunity to add a top-tier prospect immediately with the fourth overall pick. They’ll likely select Jaden Ivey as Mitchell’s immediate heir, but at the same time, they’ll have plenty of options.
