Utah Jazz Receive: G/F Evan Fournier, G/F RJ Barrett, F Obi Toppin, 2023 First-Round Pick (NYK), 2025 First-Round Pick (NYK)
New York Knicks Receive: G Donovan Mitchell
The New York Knicks help the Utah Jazz get their rebuild off to a sterling start with this package.
RJ Barrett highlights their return. He’s a 21-year-old who just got finished averaging 20.0 points per game in his third year in the NBA. It’s fair to say that he’s got star potential.
Obi Toppin might as well. He hasn’t had the same kind of impressive statistical profile, but he started coming into his own towards the end of 2021-22. Toppin is an energetic, athletic forward who has established surprising defensive value through his two-year career. He feels due for a leap and may benefit from finding a larger role in Salt Lake City.
Still, the first-rounders being attached to those two youngsters are extremely important to the Jazz. Realistically, some observers would have them opting for one or two more, as opposed to Barrett or Toppin.

For another team, maybe. The Jazz play in one of the league’s smallest markets and generally avoid complete teardowns. They’d likely opt to acquire some proven NBA commodities rather than a treasure trove of draft capital.
