No. 1 Pick
Who said the Houston Rockets had to chase a player with their pick?
After all, this team has got draft capital to spare. They swapped James Harden for a whopping seven first-round pick and/or pick swaps near the start of 2020-21. Could they start cashing some of those chips in?
In all likelihood, they’d only take this course of action if they felt that they needed Chet Holmgren. Between the Magic (the current no. 1 pick holders) and the Thunder, he feels unlikely to be on the board by the time they’re selecting.
As the team with the second-worst Defensive Rating in the NBA last season, they’d be justified in feeling that way. Holmgren projects as the best rim protector in this class: he could shore up many of the Rockets’ defensive shortcomings.

If their front office agrees strongly enough, they could make an aggressive offer to the Magic in exchange for the top selection.
