1. Denver Nuggets For Monte Morris

If the Knicks are going to take the trade route for a point guard this offseason, making a deal with the Denver Nuggets for Monte Morris may be the most realistic one.

Monte Morris has thrived as a backup in Denver and this season became the starter with Jamal Murray sidelined, showing he can handle that job as well.

With Murray expected back for the 2022-23 season, Morris will revert to his reserve role. But, the team also used a first-round pick on Nah’Shon ‘Bones’ Hyland in the 2021 NBA Draft. He improved as the season wore on and looks ready to handle regular backup minutes.

That would create a logjam in the backcourt, something the Knicks could take advantage of. Monte Morris would be an excellent addition to the lineup as someone that can set the tone at the point of attack. He is a solid defender and has all the intangibles as a point guard that protects the ball, can set the table for teammates and knock down 3-pointers.

Needing some help on the wing, there is a deal to be made between the Knicks and Nuggets. Looking to remain contenders with a healthy roster next season, New York could offer Denver Alec Burks to fill that void. Or, if the Nuggets want a center to backup Nikola Jokic, they could have some interest in Nerlens Noel.

Both Burks and Noel have team options for the 2023-24 season, so they are essentially expiring contracts. That could help Denver save some future money, as Monte Morris is signed through 2024.
